Music of the Capitol Reefers is colored by the red sand that got between their toes and seeped into their pores. They sing original songs inspired by desert rats and the desolate beauty they inhabit. Love, desire, horses, heartbreak and always the land of the Colorado Plateau, form the ground their songs grow on.

They uniquely interpret other's songs from many of the roots and branches of the Americana tree. 

Guitars, bass, dobro, fiddle and mandolin drive their energetic, eclectic mix. Will Barclay, band founder Jim Robinson, Sandy Borthwick and Steve Lutz, IAMA award winning dobro player, form the heart of this acoustic string band. After hearing them do a few songs, you too will be inflicted with Reefer madness!

Jim and Sandy, a husband-and-wife team, have performed for years as a duo and about ten years ago joined Will and Steve who have played as a duo for more than twenty years.  All four are Wayne County residents with about 150 years of performing experience between them.
